PTLLS - Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Learning

The Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is a stepping stone qualification that enables candidates to teach their subject specialisms.
These qualifications are ideal for new entrants into the teaching industry or even for those who are currently teaching and who wish to teach their subject specialism. Teachers involved in providing funded Work Based Learning (WBL) may also require a PTLLS qualification to satisfy their funding requirements.
The Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS) qualification is the introductory minimum threshold level requirement for anybody wanting to work as a teacher or trainer in the lifelong sector (the post compulsory education period). The qualification is suitable for Teachers/Tutors/Trainers of people in the public, voluntary, retail, beauty, fitness, IT, Military, security, licensing, food safety, Health & Safety, Construction, fire safety, first aid and many other sectors.

Candidates on this course are not required to be in teaching roles already as it is our role and duty to draw upon our experienced and highly professional instructors to give you the support, advice and professional guidance that you will need. Your designated instructor will cover session planning, methods of assessment, learning and teaching evaluation and share with you proven teaching methods that will motivate your learners.

Upon successful completion of the qualification you will be able to satisfy the minimum legal requirement and will be able to teach/train one-to-one or in groups people in your industry leading to private or government funded recognised qualifications.

Course Structure

The PTLLS qualification, has a credit value of 12 credits on the Qualifications Framework and consists of four units.

Unit 1 Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Lifelong Learning
Unit 2 Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in Lifelong Learning
Unit 3 Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in Lifelong Learning
Unit 4 Principles of assessment in Lifelong Learning

Course Duration

The completion time for this qualification does vary greatly from learner to learner due to the different lifestyle, work, commitments and individual capability. However we estimate a completion time of 4 - 6 weeks.

PTLLS course is a classroom based learning. However, it can be achieved online and distant learning.

Method of Assessment

Successful completion of a Portfolio and delivery of a micro-teach session. The micro-teach will allow you to demonstrate the skills that you will have gained from the PTLLS course by delivering a short teaching/training session. No formal written examination needed for this qualification.

Entry Requirements

All learners must be aged 18+ to be able to complete the qualification.

All learners must be able to produce an acceptable form of photographic ID (e.g. Passport, Driving License), a proof of address and a passport size photograph.

Although there are no formal educational requirements for this qualification learners should be qualified and will be expected to have reasonable experience in the subject they would like to teach.

Cost

The cost for the Level 3 PTLLS is £225.00.

The cost for the Level 4 PTLLS is £250.00.
